Korean Air Elected Chair Airline of SkyTeam Safety, Security & Quality (SSQ) Committee
Seoul, April 29, 2026. Korean Air has been elected as the chair airline of the Safety, Security & Quality (SSQ) Committee for the global airline alliance SkyTeam.
As the chair airline, Korean Air will lead the development and implementation of alliance-wide policies for safety, security, and quality across all SkyTeam member airlines. Bennet Allen Walsh, Senior Vice President and Head of Corporate Aviation Safety & Security at Korean Air, will serve as the SSQ Functional Executive for a two-year term.
The SSQ Committee plays a pivotal role in establishing common standards that strengthen safety, security, and quality within the alliance and across the global aviation industry. In this leadership position, Korean Air will work closely with the SkyTeam Executive Board to drive key safety initiatives, foster synergies, enhance cooperation among member airlines, and promote the exchange of best practices.
Key priorities during Korean Air's tenure will include strengthening international guidelines for the use of mobile power banks on board, as well as standardizing SkyTeam's emergency response plan across all member airlines.
This appointment solidifies Korean Air's global leadership in aviation safety while expanding the airline's influence within one of the world's leading airline alliances.
