Korean Air Opens Flagship First and Prestige Class Lounges at Incheon, Completing Multi-Year Modernization
Seoul, April 16, 2026. Korean Air has officially completed the comprehensive 42-month modernization of its lounge infrastructure at Incheon International Airport Terminal 2 with the opening of its renovated flagship First and Prestige Class West lounges, which will open their doors on April 17 and 16, respectively.
Following an investment of KRW 110 billion, the airline has successfully upgraded its entire lounge network at Incheon. The expansion doubles the total capacity of the airline's lounges at the terminal, preparing Korean Air for the increasing passenger traffic ahead of its planned merger with Asiana Airlines.
The new facilities were designed with a "home away from home" concept, emphasizing the passenger experience through enhanced dining options and amenities.
First Class Lounge: Highly Personalized and Private Luxury
Spanning 921 square meters – 2.3 times the size of the previous facility – the First Class Lounge has been redesigned to prioritize ultimate privacy. The space is divided into an open hall and 11 private suites, allowing passengers to relax in a secluded environment before boarding.
The interior is inspired by traditional Korean architecture, utilizing wooden pillars, beams, and ramie (Mosi) textures. Upon entry, passengers are guided to separate suites for a private pre-departure experience.
Highlights include:
- Dining & Tableware: Meals are served à la carte, featuring traditional recipes that emphasize natural flavors. In addition to cutlery by Christofle, porcelain by Bernardaud, and glassware by Baccarat and Riedel, the lounge offers white porcelain by Lee Ki-jo and traditional brassware by Lee Hyung-geun.
- Art Collection: The area functions as a curated gallery, showcasing works by world-renowned artist Anish Kapoor, as well as esteemed Korean artists such as Kim Young-joo, Lee Bae, Yoo Bong-sang, and Chae Sung-pil. The collection focuses on the profound traditional Korean hues of yellow and black.
- Wellness: The wellness area features high-quality massage chairs, and the shower suites are equipped with separate toilet rooms and private shower stalls.
Prestige Class West Lounge: Expanded Capacity and New Design
With an area of 2,615 square meters and over 420 seats, the Prestige Class West Lounge is the largest single lounge facility at Incheon International Airport. The design reflects Korean Air's premium cabin brand identity, utilizing a color palette of gold, black, and ivory.
Highlights include:
- Culinary Experience: Offerings include a rich buffet with Korean and Western cuisine, as well as live cooking stations, complemented by a full-service bar. The buffet features handmade desserts and traditional Korean snacks (Yakgwa) prepared by Grand Hyatt chefs, along with seasonal fruits and soft-serve ice cream. The menu is updated quarterly to incorporate seasonal ingredients.
- Digital Art: The area boasts dynamic digital artworks and installations that change depending on the time of day and viewing angle.
- Productivity and Wellness: The lounge offers a dedicated tech zone with workstations for business travelers, as well as a wellness area with premium massage chairs.
Strategic Expansion for Global Leadership
With the completion of the First Class and Prestige West lounges, Korean Air's total lounge area at Incheon Airport has expanded from 5,105 to 12,270 square meters, increasing total capacity from 898 to 1,566 seats. Korean Air will operate seven lounges in Incheon Terminal 2: First Class, Miler Club, Prestige East Left, Prestige East Right, Prestige West, Prestige Garden East, and Prestige Garden West.
Travelers can manage their visit using the "Korean Air Lounge Reservation" feature on the airline's website and mobile app. Following the completion of the Incheon lounges, Korean Air will continue to modernize infrastructure at key hubs, including Gimpo International Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York, to ensure a consistent premium service experience across its global network.
