Frankfurt am Main, March 23, 2026. Vietnam Airlines will operate its flights at Munich Airport from the new pier in Terminal 1. Starting April 21, 2026, all commercial flights of the airline will depart from the modern extension, which was specifically designed for non-Schengen traffic. With the move, passengers will benefit from modern infrastructure, optimized processes, and an improved travel experience.

The new pier specifically expands Terminal 1 for international traffic and sets new standards in terms of efficiency and passenger comfort. With an investment of approximately 665 million euros, the facility offers modern handling processes, clear wayfinding, and additional capacities for international air traffic.

The approximately 360-meter-long pier features a total of 18 aircraft stands, including six for wide-body aircraft and twelve for smaller aircraft. The offering is complemented by new retail and catering areas as well as exclusive lounge areas, which significantly enhance the stay for travelers.

The new pier, built to the most modern standards, will set benchmarks for Vietnam Airlines in terms of passenger comfort, efficiency, and flight experience. At the new location, Vietnam Airlines passengers will benefit from centralized security and passport control, as well as clearly structured wayfinding within the terminal.

Vietnam Airlines' check-in will remain in check-in area C of Terminal 1. From there, passengers proceed through the central boarding pass control to departure area A/B. There, they pass through security and passport control before reaching the departure gates in the new pier.

There are no changes for connecting flights. The Minimum Connecting Time (MCT) remains unchanged. Passengers transferring between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 can also use the comfortable bus connections in the airside area, eliminating the need to leave the security area.

Currently, Vietnam Airlines offers three weekly flights between Munich and Hanoi and two flights per week to Ho Chi Minh City.
