Culture Meets Celestial Luxury: Waldorf Astoria Debuts in Rabat-Salé

Frankfurt am Main/Rabat, Morocco, May 5, 2026. | High above the Moroccan capital of Rabat-Salé, in the iconic Mohammed VI Tower – the country’s tallest building – the Waldorf Astoria opens its doors today. The 55-room hotel blends the timeless elegance of the Waldorf Astoria brand with the rich cultural soul of Morocco. Situated at the intersection of the twin cities of Rabat and Salé, it offers panoramic views from the Bouregreg River to the Atlantic Ocean. It draws inspiration from the stars, with celestial motifs woven throughout its design. Guests can enjoy five unique culinary experiences, utilize a serene wellness area, explore one of the region's most extensive private art collections, or create unforgettable moments across nearly 1,300 square meters of opulent event space.

A Thoughtfully Designed Place of Cultural Reflection
Each of the 55 exquisitely appointed rooms and suites reflects the art and landscape of Morocco with sun-warmed marble and intricate motifs that tell the story of the place. From deluxe rooms to three-bedroom suites, every space exudes the comfort of a private home. A personal concierge is on hand to customize each guest's stay – a hallmark of Waldorf Astoria Hotels worldwide.

With nearly 7,000 works, the hotel houses one of North Africa's largest private art collections. Every corner of the hotel is adorned with artworks and artifacts – thousands of pieces that tell the stories of their creators from Morocco and around the world.

Tastes from Around the World
Peacock Alley is the hotel's elegant gathering place and a hallmark of the Waldorf Astoria chain. Here stands the legendary clock – a planetarium-inspired masterpiece that tracks the solar system alongside Moroccan time. Beneath its celestial canopy, guests can enjoy afternoon tea, coffee, or handcrafted cocktails in an ambiance that celebrates cultural exchange and refined hospitality.

Aldabaran, the signature restaurant by legendary Chef Alain Ducasse, brings global prestige and refined gastronomy to Rabat. Named after one of the brightest stars in the sky – another nod to the hotel's celestial motifs – the restaurant offers an atmosphere of radiant tranquility. The menu reflects Ducasse's focus on purity, seasonality, and restraint. Highlights include line-caught sea bass with artichokes and radicchio, Wagyu beef fillet with polenta and pepper sauce, roasted rack of lamb with vegetable caponata, and an orange blossom-perfumed Tarte Tropézienne.

At Brasserie Magnolia, guests can enjoy fresh Mediterranean flavors from renowned Chef Lahcen Hafid. Upcoming openings include The Sapphire Room, a pan-Asian mezzanine bar where music, cocktails, and sharing plates set the rhythm of the night, and Aprés, the hotel's coffee bar offering artisanal delights.

Wellness with a Moroccan Soul
The Waldorf Astoria Spa offers views of the Atlantic Ocean and blends Moroccan wellness rituals with modern luxury. Guests can experience treatments based on Moroccan healing practices, such as the traditional hammam. The spa features six treatment rooms, a detoxifying Iyashi Dome, a heated quartz sand table, an ice room, and a sauna. In addition to the spa, guests also have access to an indoor pool, an infinity pool with sea views, a 24-hour state-of-the-art fitness center, and a relaxation lounge.

Iconic Events
Guests have access to nearly 1,300 square meters of event space, including a magnificent ballroom with intricate details and three meeting rooms. The hotel's dedicated event team ensures that every occasion – from diplomatic or business receptions to anniversary celebrations – is hosted with precision, discretion, and the personalized service characteristic of the Waldorf Astoria brand.

Guy Hutchinson, President, Middle East & Africa, Hilton, said: “Morocco is one of the world's fastest-developing travel destinations, welcoming over 18 million tourists in 2025, with Rabat playing an increasingly important role in the national goal of reaching 20 million visitors by 2030. We are proud to bring the iconic Waldorf Astoria brand to Rabat-Salé, setting a new benchmark for refined luxury in Morocco's capital. This opening marks an exciting new chapter for the brand as we continue to expand our luxury portfolio in key cities, offering discerning travelers unparalleled access to the heritage, art, and ambition that define this destination.”

“The Waldorf Astoria Rabat Salé embodies the essence of what our brand stands for: the dialogue between tradition and modernity, art and hospitality, and culture and design,” said Dino Michael, Senior Vice President & Category Head, Hilton Luxury Brands. “Morocco has always inspired dreamers, creators, and travelers with its rhythm and beauty. This opening captures that spirit through the distinctive Waldorf Astoria lens. Every detail, from the art collection to the cuisine, tells a story of connection, bridging worlds that feel both timeless and new.”

The hotel is in close proximity to several UNESCO World Heritage sites, including the Kasbah of the Udayas and the Hassan Tower, the historic medinas of Rabat and Salé, as well as newly opened cultural attractions such as the Grand Théâtre de Rabat. It is just minutes from Rabat-Salé International Airport and connected to Casablanca and Tangier by high-speed rail, offering ideal access to the capital and beyond.
