Connectivity to Israel Significantly Improved by Resumption of Key Flight Routes
Jerusalem, May 13, 2026. Israel's connectivity will be significantly improved again in a few weeks with the resumption of various important flight connections. Lufthansa Group airlines are gradually restarting flights to Tel Aviv, while other airlines such as Israir, EL AL, and Blue Bird have been ensuring Israel's connectivity for several weeks.
The resumption of further flights is favored by the positive development of the security situation in Tel Aviv. Austrian Airlines will lead the way, flying from Vienna to Tel Aviv again starting June 1, 2026. SWISS and Lufthansa will follow from July 1 with connections from Zurich, and Frankfurt and Munich, respectively.
The phased resumption of operations by one of Europe's largest aviation groups is a significant sign of the increasing stabilization of the situation and growing confidence in Israel as a travel destination. For travelers from German-speaking countries, connectivity to Tel Aviv will noticeably improve – with direct connections from Vienna, Zurich, Frankfurt, and Munich.
Israeli airlines already ensure the connection between Germany and Israel today. EL AL, the Israeli national airline, flies directly to Tel Aviv from several German airports. Israir and Bluebird Airways complement the offering with additional direct connections from Germany, thus enabling increasingly convenient accessibility to Israel as a travel destination – even during the gradual return of European carriers.
The Israel Government Tourist Office confidently anticipates the further normalization of flight operations and is available to travelers, tour operators, and media for information at any time.
